Another year has flown by, and we have been busy at ALCOSAN. Our 16th annual Open House is just weeks away, and we can’t wait to show you what’s been happening while you enjoy a fun-filled day of activities for children and adults.
Open House day is one of my favorites. I love watching people learn about our wastewater treatment plant and how important it is for the region’s environmental health. My favorite feature, though, is enjoying the way ALCOSAN employees share their pride in their work.
ALCOSAN’s Scholastic Outreach representatives have a variety of activities planned that guarantee children will have a good time. Employees from the Regional Conveyance Division love showing off their remote-controlled, closed-circuit cameras that explore sewers deep below the ground. Engineers who work on our Green Revitalization of Our Waterways municipal grant program will be explaining their many successful projects, and others will take visitors through a virtual sewer.
Staff members, who volunteer to help at the Open House, will be offering tours of the plant and our laboratory, directing traffic, running shuttle buses, conducting games, and hands-on demonstrations and cooking free lunches for all of our visitors.
I hope to see all of you at the Open House, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, September 15. Rain or shine, we’ll be here waiting to welcome you to ALCOSAN.
You may pre-register for the event but don’t forget to pick up a timed tour ticket once you get here.
