Welcome the start of the holiday season with family, friends and neighbors at the Historical Steel Valley parade in Homestead at 12 noon. This is one of the best holiday parades of the season! Filled with marching bands, girls and boy's scout troops, a silk dance team, antique cars, funny clowns and civil war reenactors. Musicians and local mascots; including t-Rex and ALCOSAN's Frankie the Fish will be joining in on the festivities of the parade. Mayor Betty Esper of Homestead will be your MC announcing all the highlights during the parade. Enjoy some hot chocolate as you wait to catch a glimpse of Santa and Mrs. Claus on their sleigh.
Come out and cheer to show your support and encourage participants in the Girls on the Run 5K race in North Park between the swimming pool and Traynor Field. This 5k run celebrates the girls passage through a 10-week program where they develop new skills that encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development. Family, friends and local mascots including ALCOSAN's Frankie the Fish will be on hand to show support. Pre/post-race activities take place at the Harmar Grove at 8 a.m. - Race time is 10 a.m.
